Tim Saul’s unique production style first made an impression with the release of EARTHLING’S seminal LP’s “Radar” (Chrysalis -1995) and “Human Dust” (EMI/Discograph -1997), the latter featuring Ray Manzarek of The DOORS. Previously to this he had worked on PORTISHEAD’S groundbreaking and multi-million selling “Dummy” LP (Go Beat -1994).
EARTHLING had a top 50 LP and 3 top 50 singles in the UK and top 5 singles in several countries in Europe and a number one single in Israel.
In the Noughties, Saul co-produced Arabic hip-hoppers INTIK (SonyFrance-2000) and renewed his collaborative partnership with Geoff Barrow on the MCKAY project (Go Beat/Universal – 2003) featuring Bronx born soul singer STEPHANIE MCKAY. Working in Los Angeles in 2001/02 he scored the music for two high profile adverts for LEXUS cars and LEVIS jeans, whilst also working with singer songwriter MOZELLA (Maverick/Motown).
In recent years Saul has been writing for TV, film and multi-media projects and in 2004 he scored the soundtrack to the short film “Hounds” which went on to show at CANNES film festival . A collaboration with avant-pop vocalist JULEE CRUISE followed (Twin Peaks) and at the end of 2006 Tim worked on a project mixing orchestral and electronic elements, recording with the SLOVAK NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA in Bratislava. In 2008 Tim completed his first feature length documentary score for “Afro-Saxons”, and he continues to write scores for TV documentary and film projects, alongside work for Library music companies.
